Meet Diana
Six years old with a world-sized heart
Diana is a first-grader from Hollywood, Florida who believes her hands were made for kindness, love, and drawing fairy tales. When she's not painting, she's winning chess tournaments, breaking boards in Tang Soo Do, or practicing piano. Talent runs in the family — her dad is Ukrainian-born chess Grandmaster Olexandr Bortnyk, a graduate of Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding and 2014 World Youth Chess Champion, and her mom Evgeniya, originally from Belarus, is a Cambridge College–trained radiologist, co-founder of the Bortnik Chess Academy, and founder of the Lady of the World pageant.
